Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Akwaboah, has responded to claims made by fellow musician Kwabena Kwabena about the origins of Valentine’s Day concerts in Ghana.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, Akwaboah Jr. addressed Kwabena Kwabena’s assertion that he pioneered Valentine’s Day concerts in the country.
Kwabena Kwabena had recently stated that he was the first person to organize Valentine’s Day concerts in Ghana. He mentioned that the first Valentine’s concert he held was on February 14th, 2014.
Akwaboah expressed surprise at Kwabena Kwabena’s claim, stating that he had always performed at Kwabena Kwabena’s concert on February 12th, only to find out that Kwabena Kwabena announced a Valentine’s Day concert on February 14th in 2024.
During the interview, Akwaboah revealed that he was hurt by Kwabena Kwabena’s actions but clarified that he didn’t have a problem with him as anyone can hold a show on that day. He also mentioned that he had spoken to Kwabena Kwabena about the issue and their relationship was cool.
Regarding the cancellation of his 2024 Shades of Love concert, Akwaboah Jr. explained that it was due to gigs outside the country and the search for a bigger venue. He mentioned that he got the Grand Arena for the event.
Akwaboah’s ‘Shades of Love Concert 2025’ is scheduled to take place at La Palm on February 14th, with tickets priced at 300GHS for regular, 500GHS for VIP, and 750GHS for VVIP. For reservations and more information, interested individuals can call 0246466770.
