Ghanaian musician and radio presenter, Blakk Rasta, is advocating for an unconventional approach to communication in Ghana’s parliament.
He believes that the use of Pidgin English by parliamentarians will make the discussions more accessible to the general public.
In an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Blakk Rasta expressed his desire to see members of parliament conversing in Pidgin English.
He cited examples of individuals like A Plus and Baba Sadiq who have already incorporated the language into their parliamentary discourse.
According to Blakk Rasta, the use of Pidgin English will demystify the complex topics discussed in parliament and bridge the communication gap between the lawmakers and the citizens.
He emphasized the need to involve the public in parliamentary discussions and make the proceedings more relatable to everyday people.
Additionally, Blakk Rasta revealed that he had considered leaving the country before the election. He mentioned that the prospect of another term for the current government prompted him to explore alternative living arrangements abroad.
Ultimately, Blakk Rasta believes that Ghana needs a break from the current administration, which he claims has led the country into challenging economic situations.
He likened his potential relocation to the stance taken by Nigerian author Wole Soyinka, who vowed to renounce his American passport if Donald Trump won the election.
