‘I told my team, I’m a despicable human being’ – Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue is not your average pop star. She has a love for puzzles that sets her apart from the rest. Whether it’s chipping away at crosswords, sudoku grids, or the New York Times’ Spelling Bee before a concert, Kylie thrives on challenges.

Her friend, author Kathy Lette, once praised her Scrabble skills, noting that Kylie knows how to score big and doesn’t mess around. Interestingly enough, Kylie’s name is a valid Scrabble word, scoring a respectable 12 points.

But when it comes to the daily word-guessing game Wordle, Kylie takes an unconventional approach. She deliberately gets the word wrong because she wants more of a challenge. “I like to get down to the pointy end, where everything’s at stake,” she explains.

Kylie’s career has been full of challenges, from facing spiteful critics and creative misfires to battling breast cancer. Despite it all, she is currently riding high on the success of her global hit “Padam Padam.”

Released during Pride month in 2023, “Padam Padam” became a viral sensation, giving Kylie her first top 10 hit in over a decade in the UK. She even took home her first Grammy Award in 20 years and was honored as a “global icon” at the Brit Awards.

With the success of “Padam Padam,” Kylie is gearing up for a sequel with her album “Tension.” The new album will feature collaborations with artists like Sia, The Blessed Madonna, Tove Lo, Diplo, and Orville Peck.

Despite her success, Kylie remains grounded, finding comfort in the simple things in life. She’s not afraid to roll her eyes at the thought of fittings or slip into a pair of well-worn track pants after a long day.

Throughout her career, Kylie has faced criticism, setbacks, and health challenges, but her determination and persistence have kept her going. She credits her family for being her rock during tough times, and her brother Brendan even taught her a stress-relief technique called “the foofer valve.”
