The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially kicked off this year’s ‘Tourism Month’ with a call for Ghanaians to immerse themselves in the country’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant festivals.

The month-long initiative, held annually in September, aims to promote domestic tourism by enticing people to visit popular festivals and tourist attractions nationwide.

During the launch event, Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davies Opoku Ansah, representing the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, stressed the importance of Tourism Month.

He stated, “Tourism Month is observed every September and features a variety of tourism-related activities such as festivals, musical concerts, tours, and culminates with the celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27.”

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Ansah added, “This campaign aims to drive participation in key festivals, events, tourist sites, and attractions in Ghana while also emphasizing the crucial role domestic tourism plays in advancing an inclusive and sustainable tourism economy.”

Tourism Month is part of Ghana’s broader domestic tourism marketing campaign, “Experience Ghana, Share Ghana” and “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, and Feel Ghana.”

The objectives of the month include raising awareness and excitement among the tourism private sector and the general public, promoting locally-made goods and services, showcasing the distinctive natural and economic assets of various districts and regions, and fostering national unity.

Featuring a diverse array of events including festivals, concerts, and tours, this year’s Tourism Month promises to be a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture and heritage, leading up to the grand finale on World Tourism Day.

The GTA hopes that Ghanaians will take advantage of this opportunity to explore the beauty and splendor of their own country.
