Ghanaian teacher, Morkporkpor Fiador, has had her attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the Longest Marathon Reading Aloud postponed due to critical challenges in funding, sponsorship, and government support.
The event, originally scheduled for December 26, 2024, was aimed at supporting Fiador in her quest to set a new world record.
In a press statement issued by Edward Nketiah, Team Secretary, it was revealed that the postponement was a result of several factors, including a lack of corporate sponsorship, insufficient funding, and limited government support.
The statement cited the distraction caused by the recent election as a hindrance to fundraising efforts and the unmet setup and publicity costs as obstacles to event preparation.
The organizing team expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and dedication and assured them that a new date for the event would be determined after thorough consultations.
Fiador, a Field Engineer ‘A’ teacher with the 5 Garrison Education Unit under the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, has a long history of dedication to education, having taught at institutions such as Apam Presby and 5 BN Basic School.
