The Africa Cinema Summit is set to take place from 7th to 10th October 2024 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, with the prestigious Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, among the distinguished guests in attendance.
The National Film Authority (NFA) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Ga Mantse to extend the official invitation to the summit.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, a staunch supporter of the arts and a former player in the creative industry, emphasized the importance of film in preserving culture and expressed his commitment to promoting Ghanaian storytelling through cinema.
The Africa Cinema Summit is a significant event that brings together key players in the global cinema industry to Africa.
This year’s summit will focus on the unique aspects of the African cinema space, highlighting the challenges and opportunities within the industry.
The summit aims to create a platform for networking, collaboration, and business opportunities for participants, with a focus on enhancing the quality of local content production and consumption to drive increased cinema investment in the region.
Led by the Executive Secretary of the NFA, Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, the delegation also includes other NFA officials, such as Gyasiwa Ansah, Head of Production, and Daniel Amoateng, Head of Film Classification.
The Africa Cinema Summit is organized in partnership with prominent industry players like Filmhouse Group (Nigeria), Silverbird Cinema (Ghana), Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, Century CineMax (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda), and Canal Olympia, among others.
The summit aims to build on the success of the previous year’s edition, which brought together filmmakers from 20 African countries for discussions on advancing cinema on the continent.
