Freddie Mercury’s iconic £30m mansion is set to hit the market for the first time since the 80s.

The Queen star tragically passed away in the London property three decades ago, with his former lover Mary Austin, aged 72, inheriting ownership as per his will.

Although Freddie Mercury had purchased the property for £500,000 in cash back in 1985, its value has soared sixtyfold since then. Garden Lodge has become a sanctuary for fans worldwide, often leaving messages for the late musician at the front gate – a gesture Mary replaced a few years ago.

Now, Mary has decided to put the mansion on the market, however, the floorplans are currently undisclosed to the public, with only two interior photos unveiled by Knight Frank. These images showcase a portion of the entrance and a dining room, adorned with traditional furniture and yellow-painted walls.

Mary shared with Bloomberg, “It was really only ever my house in name only. I had worked on the house with him and for him, and it will always be his. It was his dream, it was his vision.”

She further expressed her contemplation of selling the house before the auction took place, emphasizing the emotional significance of the event.

The recent sale of items from the Kensington-based property fetched over £40 million in revenue. Mary’s decision to part ways with the iconic mansion marks a significant moment in the property’s history.

The news of Freddie Mercury potentially returning as a hologram has also surfaced. The company managing his music catalogue has filed for a trademark for his name, indicating a potential digital recreation of the Queen legend for immersive 3D virtual experiences and video games.

Freddie, renowned for hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” passed away at the age of 45 in 1991 due to bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.
