Accra Mall, the capital’s premier shopping destination, has revealed the top 5 finalists for the Accra Mall Fashion Fund 2024 during the Empowerment Summit Event held at Silverbird Cinema on the 4th of October.
These designers, known for their innovative designs and potential, are gearing up to compete for the ultimate prize in a competition aimed at launching the next wave of Ghanaian fashion talent.
The talented finalists—Enock Kwaa (@bicedie_), Eleanor Seku (@shopseku), Hilda Oforiwa Opoku (@redwool_), Rukaya Asedu (@rhuqi_Atelier), and Erica Dogbeda Yaotsey (@nutorla)—stood out from a strong pool of applicants. They will now go head-to-head for a $3,000 cash prize and the opportunity to secure a prime retail space at Accra Mall to showcase their collections, giving them a platform to expand their brands in one of Ghana’s most prestigious retail locations.
The Empowerment Summit, a key part of the three-month Accra Mall Fashion Fund initiative, brought together designers, fashion enthusiasts, and industry experts under the theme “Antiquarian,” sparking discussions on fashion history, branding, and design.
Notable speakers like Mrs. Agnes Odambea and Mrs. Delali Bentsi-Enchill shared valuable insights on antiquity in modern fashion and core design elements, while Mr. Joey Darko of @urtailorstailor.official offered practical advice on branding and operational strategies.
The announcement of the finalists was the highlight of the event, with Mrs. Denise Asare, General Manager of Accra Mall Ghana, commending the designers for their creativity and dedication. She encouraged them to leverage the Fashion Fund as a springboard to elevate their brands.
The finalists will receive mentoring, and exposure, and face real-world fashion industry challenges as they vie for the grand prize, which includes the cash reward and a chance to gain crucial visibility within the fashion world.
