Eagle-eyed fans of the upcoming Wicked movie were in for a surprise when they discovered a packaging error on dolls inspired by the film.
The small print on the packaging mistakenly listed the address for an adult website instead of the movie’s website.
Mattel, the toy company behind the singing dolls featuring characters from the Wicked movie, has been contacted for comment regarding the oversight.
Fans who purchased the dolls took to social media to share pictures of the packaging, which had the incorrect website listed.
According to online instructions on Mattel’s website, the erroneous website was printed underneath the Universal Pictures logo, the film studio producing the movie. Despite the mix-up, Mattel recommends the dolls for children aged four and above.
One Reddit user shared their surprise at finding the adult website listed on the packaging of the Singing Elphaba doll. Another person in the US reported seeing the same error on Wicked dolls at Target and Walmart stores.
The highly anticipated Wicked movie, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, is set to be released in the US and UK on November 22.
The film adaptation of the popular musical, set in the Land of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival, follows the early life of Elphaba and her friendship with Glinda.
