Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has urged the country’s creative industry players to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into their work to stay competitive on the global stage.

During the 5th edition of Joy FM’s Showbiz Roundtable, themed ‘Manifesto Debate On Creative Economy,’ Okraku-Mantey emphasized the significance of integrating AI into the operations of creative professionals, especially in music and film production.

He pointed out the growing use of AI in music production and cautioned that traditional roles like sound engineering could become obsolete if industry players do not adapt swiftly. Okraku-Mantey stressed the importance of being proactive rather than reactive to technological advancements.

Highlighting the need for Ghana’s digitalization center to educate the public and schools to incorporate AI into their curriculum, Okraku-Mantey emphasized the detrimental impact of the local creative sector’s tendency to adopt new technologies only after they have become outdated.

This practice has hindered the industry’s growth.

The Deputy Minister also underscored the role of creative schools in preparing students for the evolving digital landscape by prioritizing AI education. He warned that delays in embracing AI could lead to being left behind in the global market.
