Ghanaian music sensation Sonnie Badu is using his platform to advocate for peace ahead of the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024.

The UK-based gospel icon led a peace walk in Accra on Saturday, November 23, 2024, bringing together hundreds of individuals to promote harmony during the electoral process.

The Peace Walk with Sonnie Badu kicked off at Danquah Circle and culminated at the iconic Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra. Participants donned branded T-shirts, creating a vibrant procession as they made their way through the streets.

The event was graced by notable personalities such as Rev. Lawrence Tetteh, gospel artist Cwesi Oteng, music producer Kaywa, and entertainment journalist Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo.

During the walk, speakers emphasized the significance of responsible and peaceful behavior before, during, and after the elections. They urged citizens to prioritize the country’s interests over personal or party gains.

Sonnie Badu, who had previously called for peace in a radio interview, reiterated the message during the march. He encouraged Ghanaians to vote wisely, reminding them to consider the nation’s well-being when casting their ballots.

Badu cautioned against being swayed by temporary incentives like food items, stressing the need for voters to make informed decisions. He also highlighted the fleeting nature of political engagements, pointing out that politicians may seem relatable during the election season but may disconnect once in office.

The peace walk is part of the build-up to Sonnie Badu’s annual Rhythms of Africa gospel music concert, scheduled for November 29, 2024, at Independence Square.

This year’s event, themed The Peace Edition, aims to foster unity and reconciliation in preparation for the elections. Rhythms of Africa, known for its dynamic performances and celebration of African spirituality through music, has gained praise since its inception in 2023.
