Yemi Alade, the renowned Nigerian singer, is overjoyed to have received her very first solo Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for her powerful track, “Tomorrow.”
During an interview on CNN’s African Voices, Yemi Alade shared her emotions with host Larry Madowo at the 15th-anniversary celebration in Lagos.
She expressed her disbelief, calling the nomination a miracle and a surreal moment in her life. Yemi Alade stated, “It feels like a miracle has happened in my life. It’s a good time to be alive. I almost thought this moment might never come.”
The singer also spoke about how the nomination reinforced her belief in perseverance and determination, stating, “I felt seen because it gave me reassurance that anybody out there can become anything. You just have to believe and not stop. Even if the world wants you to stop, don’t stop.”
This nomination is a significant milestone in Yemi Alade’s successful career, cementing her position as one of Africa’s most influential voices in global music.
