The Du Bois Centre in Accra was abuzz with the commemorative event for the 61st Anniversary of the passing of American sociologist Dr. W.E.B Du Bois on Wednesday, August 27, 2024.
The event was graced by dignitaries and celebrities alike, including the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Virginia E.Palmer, the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Egyapa Mercer, rap icon E.L, Akofa Ejeani Aseidu, and the CEO of National Film Authority Juliet Asante.
One of the highlights of the event was the meeting between the U.S. ambassador and E.L. captured by GhanaWeekend photographers.
The ambassador was delighted to see the rap icon, who was dressed in brown attire and a black cap, and they were seen exchanging pleasantries.
E.L, whose real name is Elom Adablah, is a renowned artist who scooped the ‘Artiste Of The Year’ award at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now known as Telecel Ghana Music Awards. The ‘Koko’ rapper is currently promoting his latest album BAR 7.
The event was a celebration of the legacy of Dr. W.E.B Du Bois and a gathering of influential personalities from both Ghana and the United States, coming together to honor his memory and contributions to society.
