The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, the renowned actor, John Dumelo, has formally apologized to his opponent Lydia Alhassan, the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate.
Dumelo issued the apology after facing criticism from the Widows Association in Ayawaso West Wuogon for making unfounded allegations against Lydia Alhassan.
In a recent media engagement, Dumelo insinuated that Lydia Alhassan was involved in the death of her late husband, who previously served as the MP for the constituency.
Taking to Facebook, John Dumelo expressed his regret, stating, “I apologize and unreservedly retract my previous comments.
I extend my sincere and unconditional apologies to Hon. Lydia Alhassan for my remarks during the Media General public engagement concerning the death of her husband.”
He clarified that his remarks were triggered by personal attacks from the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources’ supporters, including false accusations regarding his mother’s passing.
Dumelo acknowledged that his reaction was inappropriate and emphasized his dedication to the progress and betterment of the constituency.
