Ghanaian music legend, Atongo Zimba, recently shared his insightful thoughts on the importance of constructive criticism within the creative industry. Zimba emphasized that individuals without creative talent should refrain from criticizing artists and musicians.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Becky, Zimba stressed the significance of respect and understanding in the industry.
“I respect everyone in the industry who does things differently,” he stated. He used examples of renowned artists like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, who faced criticism for their unique styles but ultimately achieved success.
Zimba highlighted that creativity is a gift that not everyone possesses, and providing meaningful feedback without a deep understanding of the creative process can be challenging.
Growing up in northern Ghana, Zimba learned to play the kologo, a traditional two-stringed lute, from his grandfather. Over the years, he has become a master musician, singer, and griot known for his fusion of traditional and modern sounds.
