Gospel music trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, recently shared a harrowing experience that inspired their song, ‘Onokwafo Nyame.’ In an interview, lead singer Cynthia Agyare Appiadu recounted a near-death experience when their canoe sank in the Black Volta river in the Northern Region while on a gospel mission.

Mrs. Appiadu revealed that the canoe sank, and everyone fell into the river, but she was the only one who almost drowned. She vividly described how she was rolled five times by the river currents, but miraculously, she was saved by the grace of God.

The chief of the town was astonished by the event and inquired about how she was saved. She declared that they had no ‘juju’ but that Jesus Christ had saved them, and this experience inspired the song, ‘Onokwafo Nyame.’

Further expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Appiadu vowed to do something significant for God when she turned 50. True to her word, she started a church building project and a transformation centre for orphans when she reached 50 years old, and these projects are ongoing.

The music trio also shared how they have overcome numerous challenges throughout their music journey and emerged victorious and stronger. As a way of expressing their gratitude to God, the sisters announced the 2024 edition of their concert, Glorious Praise, which will take place in Accra, Kwahu, and Kumasi from March 24 to April 14.

The inspiring message behind ‘Onokwafo Nyame’ is a testament to the faith and resilience of the Daughters of Glorious Jesus, and their upcoming concert is set to be a powerful celebration of their journey. Tickets for the event will be announced and available for purchase soon.
