Brett Favre has shared insights into the final days of his longtime friend Toby Keith, who passed away at the age of 62 after battling stomach cancer.
Favre said the legendary country singer’s health had concerned him in the days leading up to his death, as he looked visibly exhausted.
The hall-of-fame quarterback mentioned in a TMZ Sports interview that Keith looked tired and had said to him, “Brett, whatever happens, I’m OK with it.”
According to Favre, their last conversation had taken place just two weeks before Keith’s death and that the singer had expressed frustration about feeling exhausted after chemotherapy treatment.
Despite his struggles, Keith handled his health battle with grace, faith, and family. Favre fondly remembered their shared golfing trips and reflected on Keith’s incredible energy and talent as an entertainer.
Keith’s death was reported earlier this week in a social media post shared on his official account. The “Made in America” hitmaker is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucus, their three children, and four grandchildren.
