Outgoing Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, has revealed the challenges she faced during her tenure.
In a recent Facebook post, Juliet disclosed that she had to initially run the authority with her own funds and office space. She also highlighted the backlash she received from the Board and incidents of sexual harassment from senior officials.
Juliet also mentioned the financial difficulties she faced in running the office, with minimal financial support from the government. She recounted instances where she and her staff worked without pay for two years and had to cover the costs of running the office from their own pockets.
Despite the challenges, Juliet expressed gratitude to those who supported her during her time as Executive Secretary. She also congratulated Kafui Danku on her appointment as the new Executive Secretary, while urging for better support for the new officials.
In her post, Juliet reflected on her journey and expressed her commitment to continue serving in the film industry. She emphasized the importance of standing against mistreatment and harassment in the workplace, hoping that no woman would have to endure what she experienced.
