African Music Week Accra 2025 launched

The city of Accra was abuzz with excitement as the African Music Week (AMW) was officially launched on December 27, 2024, at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

This music festival, scheduled to take place from December 15 to 20, 2025, kicked off with a night filled with impactful speeches, panel discussions, and electrifying performances.

The event started with a warm welcome address by Yofi Grant, CEO of the Ghana Investment & Promotion Centre, who highlighted the importance of AMW in promoting Ghana’s music tourism potential and reinforcing the country’s position as a top destination for cultural experiences.

Julz Ossom, Founder and President of African Music Week, then introduced the initiative and its aim to foster connections within Africa’s music industry while boosting global visibility for African artists in both Ghana and Canada.

The keynote address was delivered by Ruddy Kwakye, Founder & CEO of The Rave Group, who spoke about the potential of music tourism in Ghana to drive economic growth, cultural exchange, and industry development.

The evening also featured speeches from distinguished figures like Bessa Simons, President of MUSIGA, Rex Omar, Chairman of GHAMRO, and Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, all emphasizing the importance of music tourism and industry development in Ghana.

A dynamic panel discussion explored the potential of music tourism in Ghana, with notable panelists providing actionable strategies and policy recommendations for sustainable growth.

The event also showcased performances by celebrated artists, setting the stage for what promises to be a diverse and exciting AMW 2025 festival.

The upcoming African Music Week is set to bring together creatives, stakeholders, and audiences from across the continent and beyond.

The launch event has laid a solid foundation for a festival that celebrates Africa’s rich music heritage and promotes cross-cultural collaboration between Ghana and Canada.
