The Creative Arts Agency is set to receive some much-needed attention with the impending appointment of Abla Dzifa Gomashie as the Minister of Designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

During her vetting before the Appointments Committee, Gomashie pledged to address the critical needs of the agency.

Gomashie expressed her intention to closely examine the functions of the Creative Arts Agency and explore ways to enhance collaboration with the National Commission on Culture and the Ministry as a whole.

The agency, established by parliament through the Creative Arts Industry Act, 2020 (Act 1048), is currently awaiting the appointment of an Executive Secretary and a governing body to ensure its effective operation.

One of the challenges facing the Creative Arts Agency is the lack of office space. Despite recruiting thirteen staff members in December 2024, the agency does not have a physical location for them to work.

As a result, the newly recruited workers have been instructed to wait until suitable office accommodation is secured.

In addition to addressing the issue of office space, Gomashie also mentioned that a Legislative Instrument to the Creative Arts Industry Act (1048) is currently in Parliament for approval.
