The Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has been appointed as Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie is not only a respected politician but also a renowned actress, film producer, and scriptwriter. She previously served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts under the National Democratic Congress administration from 2013 to 2017.
Currently, she represents the NDC in the Ketu South Constituency in addition to being a Queen Mother in the Aflao Traditional Area.
Having earned a Master of Philosophy in African Studies from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Fine Arts with First-Class Honors from the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, and a Diploma in Theatre Arts from the same institution, Dzifa Gomashie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role.
During her tenure as Deputy Minister, she played a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for various initiatives within the sector, including the Ghana Culture Policy and the Creative Arts Industry Bill. She is actively involved in organizations like FEPACI and the ECOWAS committee for the Reparation of Stolen Artefacts of Africa.
One significant achievement during her time at the ministry was the formation of the Creative Arts Council (now Creative Arts Agency), which aims to regulate and coordinate activities in the culture and creative industries across thirteen sub-fields.
