The Accra International Conference Center was a scene of elegance and excitement on Sunday, October 6, 2024, as twenty-four outstanding women in Ghana were celebrated and awarded.
The event, Ghana Women Awards 24, organized by Brein Consult, has been honoring exceptional Ghanaian women across various sectors for the past 15 years as a means of empowering others to aim for greatness.
The prestigious event featured a delectable dinner and captivating musical performances by Highlife legend Dada KD, Gospel Diva Empress Gifty, and the Arc Band. Additionally, young poet Nakeeyat Dramani Sam mesmerized the audience with her enchanting words.
As part of the fifteenth-anniversary celebration, the Ghana Women Awards Foundation (GWAF) launched the ‘Mother and Child Care Fund’ to provide financial and social support to mothers and newborns who are unable to pay their medical bills and are detained in hospitals.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Legendary Woman award to Madam Belinda Doris Arkorful, CEO of Linda Dor. Other distinguished individuals who received honorary awards include renowned actress Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono), gospel duo Tagoe Sisters, Afi Amoro (CEO of Jandel), and Hajia Hawa Meizongo (CEO of Silverline Productions).
Notable awardees from the private sector included Belinda Naa Odey Amarteifio (Outstanding Female HR Executive), Rev. Dr. Colleen Opoku-Amuaben (Outstanding Female Pastor and Philanthropist), Linda Asong of Lyran Collections (Outstanding Female Fashion Designer), and Therestella Obosu Tei-Kwabla (Most Promising Lady).
In the public sector category, SWOII Logah Patience Ablah was recognized as the Outstanding Female Officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, while other awardees included DOP Gloria Essandoh (Outstanding Female Prisons Service Personnel) and Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo (Outstanding Nurse), among others.
