The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially launched the 2024 Tourism Month in Ghana and the United Nations World Tourism Day celebration. The launch took place at the Jake Obetsebi Lamptey Hall, GTA Head office on Friday, August 31.
The Tourism Month in Ghana aims to promote the patronage of festivals, events, tourist sites, and attractions in the country. It also highlights the crucial role that domestic tourism plays in fostering a sustainable and inclusive tourism economy.
The UN World Tourism Day is observed annually on September 27th to raise awareness among the global community about the significance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic impact.
This year, the Tourism Month will culminate with the United Nations World Tourism Day Celebrations from Thursday, September 26th to Sunday, September 29th, 2024.
Dignitaries present at the launch included the Board Chairman of GTA, Hon. Seth Adjei Baah, MP for Mpraeso, Hon. Davies Ansah, and Deputy Creative Arts Minister, Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey.
The event featured a presentation about Tourism Month and World Tourism Day by Betty Kobi.
