The 35th Annual PGA Awards took place on Thursday night, announcing the winners of several categories. The winners included a nod for innovation short form awards. The team for “Body of Mine” won the PGA Innovation Award, while the team for “Succession: Controlling the Narrative” won for outstanding short form program.
The awards were announced at the PGA’s annual west coast celebration at Members restaurant in West Hollywood. This celebration is part of a week’s worth of bi-coastal events which will culminate with the PGA Awards next week.
This year’s PGA Innovation Award nominees included several noteworthy, impactful new media programs that significantly elevate the audience’s viewing experience. Some of the nominees included “The EYE AND I,” “JFK Memento,” and “Letters From Drancy.” The award recognizes the production as a whole, not individual producers. There have been three productions awarded since the award’s inception, including “Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series – Episode 1,” “For All Mankind: Time Capsule,” and “Stay Alive, My Son.”
The winners are set to be officially unveiled at a ceremony on February 25 in the Ray Dolby Ballroom.
In addition to the award winners, Martin Scorsese is set to receive the David O. Selznick Achievement Award, and Charles D. King will receive the Milestone Award.
The celebration is also expected to see a host of nominees from various other categories such as Theatrical Motion Pictures, Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures, Episodic Television – Drama, Episodic Television – Comedy, Limited or Anthology Series Television, Televised or Streamed Motion Pictures, Non-Fiction Television, Live Entertainment, Variety, Sketch, Standup & Talk Television, as well as Game & Competition Television.
