US rapper Wiz Khalifa was detained by Romanian police on Sunday following his performance at the Beach, Please! Festival on the Black Sea Coast.

The 36-year-old artist faces charges of illegal drug possession after authorities found him in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis.

During his set, Khalifa was also seen consuming marijuana on stage, which is considered a serious offense in Romania where cannabis is classified as a “risk drug.” Videos circulating on social media show Khalifa smoking and being escorted by police from the venue.

In response to the incident, Khalifa expressed regret, stating on his social media, “Last night’s show was amazing.

I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go.

I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.” While Khalifa was charged, he was not held in police custody and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Khalifa, known for his openness about marijuana use, has previously mentioned smoking up to 30 blunts a day in interviews.

This incident has raised concerns about drug use in the music industry and the legal ramifications of such actions.

It also brings attention to the varying attitudes towards cannabis in different countries, with Romania taking a strict stance on its possession and consumption.
