The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Queen of Ghana Pageant, Araba Biesema Crentsil, has urged all Ghanaians to support women seeking political appointments and leadership roles in the upcoming general elections.
In a statement, Crentsil emphasized the importance of women empowerment and inclusion in all sectors of society. She highlighted four key goals of women empowerment: economic, social, political, and psychological empowerment.
Crentsil stated, “It is crucial for us as a nation to ensure greater inclusion of women in our political landscape, paving the way for a more inclusive future for our girls and women.”
She emphasized the significance of women’s participation in decision-making processes, leadership positions, and political representation. Research shows that higher numbers of women in parliament lead to greater attention to women’s issues, thereby promoting gender equality and democracy.
Crentsil stressed the need for gender-sensitive governance reforms to enhance the effectiveness of elected officials in promoting gender equality in public policy. She highlighted the Women For Leadership and Governance Campaign as a step towards achieving this goal.
The Queen of Ghana Pageant, founded by Araba Biesema Crentsil, aims to empower women to take on leadership roles and influence in various fields, including politics and governance. The pageant serves as a platform for women to assert their rightful place in society.
