Renowned Highlife musician, Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, popularly known as K. K. Kabobo, has passed away after battling liver disease.
The sad news was confirmed by fellow Highlife musician, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.
According to Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, the “Onyame Ehu Wu” hit-maker was being rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) when he unfortunately passed away upon arrival.
This comes just two weeks after K. K. Kabobo publicly disclosed his illness.
In a Facebook post by a user on behalf of the late musician, it was revealed that he had been unwell for several months and the family was struggling with inadequate funds for his treatment.
Former President John Mahama, Samira Bawumia, Wendy Shay, and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) have all publicly donated towards KK Kabobo’s medical bills.
K. K. Kabobo leaves behind 16 children, and his passing has been mourned by many in the music industry and beyond. May his soul rest in peace.
