Comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa, also known as KSM, has brought to light the issue of homosexuality in Ghana, particularly within the educational system.

In an interview on Starr Chat, KSM emphasized the presence of individuals who identify as homosexuals in Ghana and Africa as a whole. He urged for a more nuanced approach to the issue, promoting awareness and education rather than punitive measures.

KSM highlighted the misconception of pretending that homosexuality does not exist, noting that this mindset stems from ignorance. He specifically mentioned that these individuals can be found in tertiary educational institutions.

Regarding the proposed legislation to criminalize homosexual acts, KSM firmly stated his opposition to such a bill. He advocated for a more compassionate approach, emphasizing the need for advocacy and education to combat discrimination and promote understanding.

“The bill should not be passed, instead there should be advocacy to prevent these acts,” KSM said. He called for the creation of an inclusive environment where individuals are accepted regardless of their sexual orientation.

KSM’s position on the issue aligns with a growing sentiment among advocates for human rights and inclusivity in Ghana. The push for awareness and education over punitive measures signals a shift towards a more accepting and understanding society.
