Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has made a bold move by taking legal action against politician and entertainment critic, Baba Sadiq.
The lawsuit was filed in response to comments made by Sadiq on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Stonebwoy, who currently holds the title of Reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year, is seeking an apology and damages of GH₵3 million from Baba Sadiq for what he claims are defamatory tweets.
The lawsuit, filed on May 31, accuses Sadiq of acting maliciously and intentionally spreading false statements that damaged the artist’s reputation.
Social media commentators had already anticipated Stonebwoy’s legal response to the allegations of female abuse made by Baba Sadiq.
The tweets in question suggested that Stonebwoy was violent towards women, causing concern among the artist’s supporters and prompting them to support the legal action.
The lawsuit highlights the seriousness of the situation, as Stonebwoy is determined to clear his name and protect his reputation.
The artist’s decision to take legal action sends a strong message that false accusations will not be tolerated, especially when it comes to matters as serious as domestic violence.
