Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned hip-hop artist and music mogul, has been accused of using his fame to manipulate and exploit women in a long-standing scheme of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Prosecutors have brought three criminal charges against Combs, alleging that he transported women and male sex workers across state lines to participate in demeaning sexual acts called “Freak Offs.”

In a court appearance in Manhattan, Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and up to life behind bars.

Despite the serious allegations, Combs’ defense lawyer argued that the sexual activities were consensual. The prosecution, however, painted a different picture, accusing Combs of running a criminal enterprise to exploit women for over 16 years.

The indictment details how Combs enticed women with drugs, financial support, and promises of career advancement, then used recordings of the sex acts as leverage to silence them.

The case against Combs, brought by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, highlights a disturbing pattern of abuse and manipulation.

It is alleged that Combs and his associates used bribery, violence, and intimidation tactics to keep his criminal activities secret. The indictment also mentions incidents where Combs was captured on video assaulting women and engaging in illicit behavior.

This high-profile case has brought renewed attention to the issue of sexual misconduct in the music industry. Combs is the latest music figure to face such serious allegations since R&B singer R. Kelly was sentenced to 31 years in prison for similar crimes.

Combs’ reputation has been tarnished in recent years, with his former girlfriend accusing him of physical abuse, sexual slavery, and rape.
