Renowned dancer Lisa Naa Quama Darko, known as Lisa Quama, has revealed the motivating factor behind her decision to pursue a career in dancing, despite her parents’ financial stability.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s show, Changes, Lisa Quama shared that she was driven by her personal ambitions and desire to be independent.

She expressed that she did not want to solely rely on her parents for financial support and wanted to earn money on her own to avoid being labeled as a “spoiled child.”

“I didn’t want to be that spoiled child who depended on her parents’ wealth. I have always been passionate about dancing and wanted to prove myself without relying on my parents,” she explained to host Roselyn Felli.

Lisa Quama acknowledged that, initially, money was not her primary focus as dancing was undervalued at the time. Despite this, she actively participated in performances with her peers at events without receiving payment.

She emphasized her independence by diligently saving her school allowance to fund dance lessons during school breaks, enhancing her skills and expertise in the art form.

Furthermore, Lisa Quama demonstrated her dedication by setting a goal to purchase a car for her mother through her earnings from dancing. She made personal sacrifices by reusing clothes to showcase her commitment to her parents, even though her mother already owned a car.
