Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist and winner of Mentor season 3, Erico, recently opened up about the heartbreaking reason behind his divorce during an exclusive interview on Emelia Brobbey’s Okukuseku show.
Erico shared the painful experience of discovering his wife’s infidelity while he was battling kidney disease. In an attempt to test her loyalty, he pretended to have a terminal illness, only to catch her exchanging explicit messages and intimate photos with another man in Dubai while he was in the same room.
Recalling the moment, Erico said, “I pretended to be asleep on the bed while she was on the couch. I heard the camera clicking multiple times and assumed she was taking photos of me in my vulnerable state. However, when I glanced over, I realised she was naked and sending the photos to a man she was talking to on the phone. I overheard her telling him that if he was lusting over her photos, he should wait until she showed him proper ‘bedmatics’.”
The final straw came when Erico, still pretending to sleep, witnessed his wife sending nude pictures and making promises of marriage to her Dubai lover, mistakenly believing Erico’s imminent death.
“I overheard her saying she will marry her lover in Dubai the moment I am no more. I was so sad,” Erico shared.
Confronted with this betrayal, Erico made the difficult decision to leave the marriage and focus on his gospel ministry after recovering from his health struggles.
