Gloria Sarfo, a Ghanaian actress, expressed disappointment over the notable absence of key film stakeholders at the Africa Cinema Summit’s second edition.
The event, which took place in Accra from 7th to 10th October 2024, aimed to bring together industry players to discuss the growth and investment in African cinema.
In an interview with TV3, Gloria voiced her concerns about the lack of participation from actors and producers, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings for the industry.
She mentioned that despite hectic filming schedules, industry professionals should have made time to attend the summit.
The Africa Cinema Summit 2024, organized by the National Film Authority in partnership with various cinema groups across Africa, featured discussions on enhancing the quality of local content production and increasing cinema investment.
The event also focused on fostering collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth within the African cinema industry.
Notable figures like Idris Elba, an English actor of Ghanaian descent, headlined the event, drawing attention to the importance of promoting African cinema on a global scale.
The summit aimed to build on the success of its inaugural edition, which brought filmmakers from 20 African countries together to discuss the future of cinema on the continent.
