Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, recently shared her concerns about the sudden death of fellow actor Prince Yawson, also known as ‘Waakye’.
In an interview on the Prime Morning show, Maame Dokono expressed her distress upon hearing about Waakye’s passing, attributing it to what she called “somebody’s mistake.” She revealed that she had spoken to Waakye on the morning of his death, only to receive the tragic news later that evening.
The Ghanaian movie industry was left mourning on August 2, 2022, when Waakye was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital the night before. Maame Dokono explained that initially, Waakye was taken to Ridge Hospital but had to be transferred due to a lack of available beds.
Reflecting on the unexpected tragedy, Maame Dokono shared her deep sadness and admitted to fearing a similar fate for herself, saying, “I was so devastated and didn’t know what to do, so maybe my death will be like that.”
Despite her worries, Maame Dokono expressed her wish for deceased actors, such as Waakye and Richard Kwame Agyeman (Odompo), to return. She also expressed her desire to live as long as her mother, who lived to the age of 115.
Now approaching 80 years old, Maame Dokono highlighted the importance of self-care and expressed her hope to live a long and healthy life, following in her mother’s footsteps.
