Satirist Kwaku Sintim Misa, also known as KSM, recently made a shocking revelation about the use of drugs in the creative industry.

He stated that the biggest incentive for drug use among talents in the creative industry is the belief that drugs can trigger wild and creative ideas.

In a recent interview, KSM admitted to experimenting with drugs in the past to see if they could enhance his creative abilities.

He shared, “I did it to see how best it can help me to be creative and the ideas that I got were all very wild and to me wow ‘this thing is amazing, it can give you ideas and things’. But then once it starts dying down then you realise these are not wild ideas, these were stupid things. But at that time you don’t care. For me it doesn’t work.”

Despite his experimentation with drugs, KSM cautioned against relying on drugs for creative inspiration.

He emphasized the importance of natural talent and creativity, stating, “However, trust me, if you rely on the natural and you give yourself enough time, you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish. The deception is that that one gives you an immediate thing that you can do and you think this is the way out. But the more you do it, the more you destroy that capacity.”

KSM highlighted the importance of staying true to one’s natural talents and abilities, as creatives who rely on natural inspiration tend to be more successful and have greater longevity in their careers. He encouraged aspiring creatives to avoid depending on external substances for inspiration.

The revelations were made in a new Joy News documentary titled ‘Creative Addictions’, which explores the use of drugs among creatives and the impact it has on their work. The documentary features insights from creatives who have struggled with addiction, as well as experts in psychiatry who offer advice on overcoming drug dependencies.

‘Creative Addictions’ is set to premiere on Joy News and Joy Prime, offering viewers a closer look at the challenges faced by creatives in the industry.
