Koo Fori, a well-known Ghanaian comic actor whose real name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has entered a plea of not guilty in response to allegations of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian citizen of $50,000.
The actor made his appearance in the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, after being apprehended by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9.
He has been charged with defrauding under false pretenses and has been admitted to bail set at ₵320,000, supported by three sureties.
According to police reports, Koo Fori allegedly accepted a substantial sum from the victim, who resides in California, under the guise of facilitating a legitimate investment opportunity. However, he reportedly failed to uphold his side of the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.
The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, sought assistance from law enforcement after numerous attempts to recover the funds proved unsuccessful.
Investigations indicated that Koo Fori not only missed repayment but also disregarded a court summons to appear at the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025. This failure to respond led to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
