Ghanaian highlife music legend, George Jahraa, has expressed his disappointment in the lack of support he has received from the Ghanaian music industry throughout his career.

Despite producing hit songs that have remained relevant for over 20 years, Jahraa feels that he has not been given the recognition he deserves.

During a recent performance at the African Legends Night event, Jahraa shared his frustrations with JoyNews’ Nicholas Ekow Yamoah, stating, “To be honest with you, I have not been celebrated enough. I have not been recognised enough. I have been underrated.”

The musician also criticized the government for not showing enough interest in the music industry, contrasting Ghana’s lack of support with countries like Mali, where the government actively promotes and supports its musicians.

Jahraa believes that government involvement is crucial for the growth and development of the music industry in Ghana.

With a career spanning over 30 years, George Jahraa has given the music industry several hit songs such as “Driver Banza, Zanu Kade, Srade Nam, Ashikele,” among others. He was honored with a special award during the 2024 African Legends Night event held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra on October 5, 2024.
