Entertainment pundit and media personality Halifax Ansah-Addo has shared his predictions for the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in June 2024. During a recent appearance on United Showbiz on UTV, Halifax expressed his belief that Afrobeat artist King Promise is a strong contender for the prestigious Artist of the Year award, surpassing even the likes of Stonebwoy.

Initially, Halifax had placed his bets on Stonebwoy, citing the artist’s active fan engagement and successful music promotion tactics. However, after taking a closer look at King Promise’s extensive body of work, Halifax was impressed by what he discovered. He admitted that he had underestimated King Promise’s contributions to the music industry until recently.

While acknowledging King Promise’s talents, Halifax also highlighted the importance of artists being proactive in engaging with the Ghanaian market. He suggested that artists like King Promise should make a deliberate effort to involve the Ghanaian audience in their work from the outset, rather than trying to catch up at the last minute.

The Artist of the Year category at the TGMA is shaping up to be highly competitive, with artists like Black Sherif, Nacee, and Sarkodie also in the running. It remains to be seen who will ultimately walk away with the award, but King Promise’s recent surge in popularity has certainly put him in the spotlight as a strong contender.
