Afrobeats artist King Promise has opened up about the controversy surrounding Dancehall artist Stonebwoy’s lack of response to his congratulatory message after the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
During an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, King Promise clarified that he was not bothered by Stonebwoy’s silence, despite sending him well wishes after the awards ceremony.
He attributed Stonebwoy’s lack of response to the overwhelming number of messages he received that night.
King Promise expressed his happiness that Stonebwoy, a seasoned artist in the industry, won the ultimate award.
“I congratulated him after the awards but was unbothered when he didn’t respond. Why would I be though? Like I said, I don’t take things way too personally because people have their ways of understanding and taking things,” he shared.
The musician also emphasized that he still has a good relationship with Stonebwoy, mentioning their collaborations in the past and their positive interactions. He made it clear that he harbored no ill feelings towards the Dancehall artist.
Reflecting on the incident, King Promise admitted that he did not expect the issue to escalate as much as it did and expressed surprise at the negative frenzy surrounding the situation. However, he maintained a positive outlook and reiterated that he had no issues with Stonebwoy.
In conclusion, King Promise dismissed the notion that there was any animosity between them, stating, “I feel positivity and truly I haven’t seen him after that but I have no problem with him.”
