A young Ghanaian woman has spoken out about the unsettling experiences she has had on social media, receiving unwanted and inappropriate proposals from older men.
Known online as Afronitaaa, the woman shared that she has been bombarded with strange messages and requests from men old enough to be her father. These proposals ranged from marriage offers to requests for intimate photos.
“It’s really unsettling to receive these kinds of messages from older men,” Afronitaaa said. “I constantly have to block and report them, but it’s annoying and invasive.”
Unfortunately, Afronitaaa’s experience is not uncommon. Many young women face similar harassment and unwanted advances on social media, which can be distressing and disturbing.
Experts recommend that individuals be cautious when interacting with strangers online, especially when it comes to sharing personal information or images. It’s important to set boundaries and report any inappropriate behavior to the platform’s administrators.
