Renowned Hiplife artist, Guru NKZ, has made a comeback in the race for the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC) presidency.

This follows his disqualification from the race by the SRC Electoral Commission due to his non-resident status.

Guru, along with his running mate, Jeffery Adu Yeboah, were disqualified for not being residents of any hall on campus, a violation of Article 30 which stipulates that candidates must be eligible to contest for a Junior Common Room (JCR) position in their hall.

In response to his disqualification, Guru’s legal team filed a petition with the Electoral Commission and the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, seeking a review of the decision.

They also submitted an interim injunction to the Judicial Board to temporarily halt the electoral process.

After a hearing, the appeals Board overturned the disqualification with a unanimous decision of 7-0 on September 15, 2024.

The Board ruled that Guru and his running mate should be added to the list of Presidential candidates.

The balloting for all candidates vetted by the committee is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 16.
