John Dumelo, the parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has come to the rescue of a visually impaired law student at the Ghana School of Law, Makola.
The student, identified as Gabriel Selassie Doe, was facing the risk of deferral from his law program due to unpaid fees amounting to ¢10,400.
Doe reached out to Dumelo through a mutual friend, explaining his dire situation and the financial challenges he was facing. The student had even resorted to selling his laptop to try and cover the fees.
Moved by his story, Dumelo took immediate action and fully paid off the outstanding fees for Doe. Additionally, he provided financial assistance to help Doe retrieve his laptop, which he had to sell as a desperate measure.
The visually impaired law student had already been grappling with significant challenges due to his disability, and the added pressure of potentially losing a year of study due to financial constraints was a heavy burden for him to bear.
However, with Dumelo’s timely intervention, Doe can now continue his legal education without the fear of being deferred.
