A recent donation made by the East Legon Young Executive Men’s Fitness Club to orphanages associated with the Agape church has stirred up some controversy online.
The club donated GHC10,000, which has been met with criticism from some individuals who feel that the amount is too small considering the club’s affluent status.
Social media platforms like Twitter have been buzzing with disapproval over the donation amount. One user pointed out the vast difference between the wealth of the club members and the relatively modest donation they made.
According to @utvghana on Facebook, the East Legon Young Executive Men's Fitness Club, as part of their 1st anniversary, "generously donated GHC 10,000 in cash to the Agape Children’s Home during their thanksgiving service at the Agape House New Testament Church." pic.twitter.com/UyRqukAp35

The user expressed, “10,000gh is a lot of money to donate, and I’m sure the orphanage is grateful for it, but if they weren’t so tasteless as to disclose the amount, we wouldn’t be joking about 20+ rich kids arriving in luxury vehicles to donate a mere 500gh each.”
I'm not remotely rich in anyway. But I can donate single handedly donate that amount to someone or the cause of something. Infact I have done it low-key before on few occasions

The situation escalated further when a video surfaced showing the club members arriving at the orphanage in a fleet of luxury cars. Many netizens believed that such a lavish display of wealth should have been accompanied by a more substantial donation.
Brooo, think about it, 10,000 is really a "well judged" amount to donate. "We" definitely know they can do more than that. Question is why 10,000?, from rich folks. Ahh, so like they should have done 100,000 anaa. Just imagine if they did and the backlash from same Ghanaians.

The visit to the orphanage, led by prominent figure Kennedy Osei, who also serves as the General Manager of Despite Media Group, was part of a larger event held at Agape House New Testament Church.
Ghanaians are naturally not givers. With this hype, I'm sure they could do better. This is where I miss my Naija folks. They will give an amount that will shake the ground. Next time, you will remember their name but kudos to them.

Osei expressed appreciation for the successful year and mentioned that the donation would help address some of the children’s needs at the charity home.
