The use of smartphones in churches has raised concerns for Prophet Nicholas Osei, also known as Kumchacha, founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministry.
He has expressed worry over congregants accessing explicit content on their devices during church services.
Prophet Kumchacha noted a shift from traditional Bibles to digital devices, leading to a decline in the presence of physical Bibles in churches.
He emphasized that smartphones have inadvertently become a gateway to pornography within the sacred space, as worshippers are more likely to bring their phones than their Bibles to church.
In an interview, Prophet Kumchacha lamented, “Now people don’t come to church with Bibles. All they come along with is their phones. You’ll be shocked to note that while you ask for quotations, people will be watching pornography on their phones.”
The religious leader stressed the importance of vigilance and discernment among worshippers, warning against engaging in activities that are inconsistent with the sanctity of the church environment.
While recognizing the technological advancements of the modern world, Prophet Kumchacha emphasized the significance of upholding moral standards and preserving the sacredness of religious gatherings.
