Former member of the well-known 4×4 musical group, Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey, better known as Captain Planet, has issued a strong caution to Ghanaians who have had the opportunity to move abroad, advising them against considering a return to the country given the current state of affairs.
Highlighting the seemingly self-serving agendas of Ghana’s leaders, Captain Planet believes that the relentless pursuit of personal wealth by those in positions of power does not augur well for the welfare of the citizens.
Captain Planet expressed his concerns, suggesting that individuals who dedicate their time and resources in the hopes of a prosperous future for the nation may find their efforts in vain due to the selfish tendencies of the country’s leaders.
He further warns against blind patriotism, stating that the leaders are primarily focused on accumulating assets for their families at the expense of the well-being of the populace.
In a message shared on X and reported by GhanaWeb, Captain Planet conveyed, “If you’re fortunate enough to leave this country, please don’t come back. These leaders are only acquiring properties for their families and they don’t give a sh*t about you. Don’t die for this country in the name of being patriotic. Your future is not secured here. BE WISE.”
As Ghana grapples with ongoing economic challenges, some frustrated citizens attribute the hardships to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta. Captain Planet’s blunt warning contributes to the growing conversation surrounding the nation’s economic difficulties and the concerns of its diaspora.
