Renowned Hiplife artist Barima Sidney has returned to the music scene after a prolonged absence, shedding light on the challenges that led to his hiatus.

In a candid interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Sidney opened up about the harsh criticism and personal struggles that drove him to take a break from music for several years. The catalyst for his departure was the controversy surrounding his song ‘Papa No,’ which was misinterpreted during Ghana’s 2020 elections. The backlash he received was overwhelming, prompting him to step back and reflect on his career.

The criticism was particularly painful for Sidney as it questioned his creativity and intentions as an artist. Managing himself without proper guidance also contributed to his difficulties, leading him to perform at events for free and neglect his financial well-being.

However, a conversation with fellow artist Shatta Wale proved to be a turning point for Sidney. Shatta advised him to value his work and not undersell himself, leading Sidney to realize the importance of his worth as an artist.

Now, Sidney has made a comeback with a new single titled ‘BBF,’ featuring rapper King Paluta. He is determined to steer clear of politically charged songs and controversial topics, focusing instead on spreading positivity and personal growth through his music.
