The latest update on the court case involving 23-year-old Level 100 Biological student Safina Mohammed, also known as Safina Diamond, has revealed shocking details.
She is facing allegations of murdering her Canadian boyfriend, Frank Osei, during a peculiar sexual encounter in Ghana.
According to reports, Safina tied up her Canadian-based Ghanaian boyfriend, Frank Osei, using dog chains, leaving him vulnerable during what was described as a kinky sexual interaction. The incident took place while he was on vacation in Ghana.
Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Adinkra disclosed that the prosecution intends to present evidence supporting the claim that Safina intentionally caused harm that led to Frank Osei’s death. The murder weapon, a knife with bloodstains, confirmed to have the DNA of the deceased, will be presented as evidence.
A DNA test conducted on the body revealed that the cause of death was unnatural, and medical professionals confirmed that Frank Osei might have died at least 72 hours before his body was discovered. Safina, during the committal proceedings, maintained her innocence, stating that she was not in the house at the time of the incident but nearby making calls.
The trial for murder at the High Court in Accra is set to commence on September 18, 2023. The gruesome murder took place in July 2022 at Ashaley Botwe School Junction when Frank Osei visited Safina, his girlfriend.
The prosecution alleges that Safina, along with accomplices, stabbed and strangled Frank Osei before cleaning up the crime scene. Safina called the police, claiming that her boyfriend had died in her room, leading to her subsequent arrest.
The State plans to parade nine witnesses during the trial, including Michael Fifi Ampofo Arku, who was initially considered an accomplice but was later discharged. Several exhibits, including autopsy reports, dog chains, knives, and the accused person’s statements, will be presented as evidence in court.
Defense counsel raised objections regarding the handling of exhibits by the prosecution, but the prosecution defended its actions, describing the objections as unwarranted. The case continues to unfold as Safina Diamond faces the murder trial in the coming months.
