Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has been granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court. This comes after his arrest on Monday, June 3.
The actor was taken into custody by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command shortly after being discharged from the hospital.
His arrest is related to a recent accident involving a vehicle operated by Lil Win, which tragically led to the death of a three-year-old boy.
The family of the young boy has been vocal in demanding justice for their loss. However, the police cited Lil Win’s health condition as a reason for the delay in his arrest.
Lil Win is facing charges of dangerous driving and negligently causing harm. The prosecution, while noting that investigations are ongoing, emphasized the importance of Lil Win’s cooperation in the case.
Despite the prosecution’s concerns, Lil Win’s counsel, Margaret Adjei-Twum, highlighted her client’s injuries, including internal bleeding, and requested bail for medical treatment.
Assuring the court of Lil Win’s commitment to the legal process, Adjei-Twum emphasized that her client, being a public figure, had no intention of fleeing from the court proceedings.
The heavy police presence at the Asokore Mampong District Court signified the significance of the case. The next hearing has been scheduled for June 27, 2024.
