The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDB Institute) recently hosted a three-day Islamic banking and finance capacity-building program for bankers and financial sector experts from Uzbekistan. The program focused on “Creating Value and Realising Business Opportunities in Islamic Finance” and took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The program welcomed 16 participants and delivered 10 sessions, covering technical training on Islamic banking and finance, as well as a panel discussion on embracing digital technologies in Islamic finance.
The training emphasized the development of competitive Shari’ah-compliant products for the Uzbekistan financial sector, with a focus on Islamic banking products, leasing, retail financing products, and the role of modern technology such as blockchain and digital assets.
Diverse speakers, including Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, led the sessions, which also saw support from staff of IsDB Group Entities and external expert trainers from Saudi National Bank and Alif Technologies.
The program aimed to equip participants with practical and theoretical knowledge to contribute to the development of the Islamic finance sector in Uzbekistan.
