Zion College, Anloga, the first college established in the Volta Region, is currently facing critical infrastructure challenges, prompting a fervent call to its alumni and various organizations for support.
The school, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of the region, is in dire need of assistance to address pressing issues affecting its facilities.
Despite being founded several decades ago, Zion College has stood as a beacon of education, producing numerous accomplished individuals who have made significant contributions to various fields. However, the aging infrastructure has become a concern, hampering the institution’s ability to provide a conducive learning environment for its students. As a result, alumni, organizations, and well-meaning individuals are being urged to come forward and contribute towards the revitalization of the school’s infrastructure.
This plea comes as a response to the deteriorating state of classrooms, laboratories, and residential facilities, which are crucial components of a well-rounded educational institution. The school’s administration highlights the urgent need for funding for essential renovations and upgrades. Dilapidated classrooms are affecting the quality of education, while outdated laboratories hinder the student’s ability to engage in practical learning experiences. Additionally, the deteriorating condition of the residential facilities poses a challenge to the well-being of the students.
The Headmistress, Nutifafa Abla Kwawukumey, has lamented the inadequate furniture, dilapidated dormitory, classrooms, and other challenges, calling on the old students to come to the aid of the school. The alumni association of Zion College is rallying former students from all walks of life to join hands in preserving the legacy of their alma mater. Prominent alumnus and spokesperson for the association, Anthony Adade, emphasized the importance of giving back to the institution that laid the foundation for their success. “Zion College has played a pivotal role in shaping our lives. It is our responsibility to ensure that future generations have the same, if not better, opportunities that we had,” Mr. Adade stated.
The science lab is also in an appalling state, with little to no renovation since its inception, which urgently needs proper attention to help effective teaching and learning, according to the Head of Department, Richard Delali Ahorlu.
